Chronology of cameras Chinon
Perhaps running out of ideas, Chinon adopted a new naming convention for its models starting in 1986. These are now called "Auto," followed by a number ending in 1.
All of these are motorized compact cameras with autofocus and flash. They differ in their lenses and the presence of an automatic framing system.
The first models in this new series still have a design very similar to the last Chinon 35 models, with angular shapes and a flash dependent on the protection cover. The subsequent models become more rounded, following the trend of the time.

In parallel with this series, Chinon marketed a series of simpler cameras whose names start with Auto GL.

Presented at the 1990 Photokina, it retains the technical features of the Handyzoom 5001 while modernizing the design. It has an "intelligent" autofocus and an automatic framing system with two settings (short or long focal length).
The Auto Zoom Composition appears to operate on the same principle as Samsung's "Fuzzy," meaning that the camera adjusts the focal length and framing.
